Tourism Auckland Industry Benefits and
Marketing Opportunities 2008

Tourism Auckland offers tourism operators in the Auckland region a range of free industry benefits, exclusive advertising opportunities as well as the chance to participate in specific domestic and international cooperative marketing activities throughout 2007.

Become a member of Study Auckland or the Business Tourism Bureau and receive targeted marketing support.

Free Industry Benefits

As a valued member of Auckland's tourism industry, Tourism Auckland is pleased to offer a number of free benefits:

  • Subscribe to Tourism Auckland's database to receive invitations to Industry Update seminars, other special interest and marketing clusters and receive Tourism Auckland's regular industry newsletter. Email citysails@aucklandnz.com with all your contact details and information about your business to register
  • Access the latest market research and tourism statistics for the Auckland region. Visit the 'Travel Trade' section.
  • Request copies of Tourism Auckland publications for promotional purposes. Email citysails@aucklandnz.com including the name of the publication and quantity required
  • Use of Tourism Auckland's travel trade image library (for non-commercial promotional purposes only - strict criteria apply). Visit the 'Travel Trade, Image Library' section to view and request images

The Auckland Guide, incorporating Auckland Touring Routes

Tourism Auckland's consumer focused visitor guide covering the entire Auckland region through suggested touring routes across Auckland. Detailed maps, editorial and event listings are included as well as advertising space in a range of sizes covering accommodation, activities and transport. The guide has proved to be extremely successful. Auckland Convention, Incentive & Travel Planner

Promoting Auckland as a business tourism destination for meetings, conferences and incentive travel. The planner includes information on accommodation, venues, services, transport and activities. A print run of 3500 are distributed nationally and internationally to professional conference organisers, incentive houses, travel trade, event organisers, sales missions to Australia and destinational management companies. Further information is available in the advertising prospectus. Publish date: January 2008.

Advertise on Tourism Auckland's websites www.aucklandnz.com, www.greatbarriernz.com or www.waihekenz.com. The regional site is currently being upgraded and is due to launch in the coming months. Auckland Visitor Information Centres

Tourism Auckland manages six Visitor Information Centre's throughout the Auckland region as well as the 0800 AUCKLAND Call Centre. Tourism Auckland's centres have more than one million visitors per year and provide travel advice, local knowledge and bookings on activities, attractions, transport and accommodation. Tourism Auckland Visitor Information Centre's are self funded and are open seven days.

  • Advertise your product or service through brochure display, digital screen or a billboard display. Packages available from $26 (+GST) per month for brochure display. Other advertising options available on application

  • Include your activity or attraction in the Hot Deals Package Brochure. You must provide a commission bearing discount to be combined with other products to form a package
  • Provide free product training within each Visitor Information Centre to educate staff about your product or service. To be eligible, you must currently advertise within the centres or in a Tourism Auckland publication. Contact the individual centre managers to arrange.

Cooperative Marketing

International and Domestic Marketing

Throughout the year Tourism Auckland will be conducting and participating in both domestic and international campaigns to promote the region as well as ongoing sales missions and trade shows.

  • Roadshows/trade shows/sales missions including annual shows in Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Japan and Asia
  • Participate in Auckland's themed region exhibit at TRENZ annual trade show event. Exhibition fee payable to TIANZ. Auckland operators are encouraged to participate under the Auckland themed area (at no extra charge).

Study Auckland

Study Auckland is a business unit within Tourism Auckland and is responsible for marketing Auckland as a study destination for international students. Study Auckland represents schools, tertiary institutions and private providers who enrol international students in the Auckland region.

  • Become of a member of Study Auckland (for education providers who are NZQA approved and a Signatory of the Code of Practice only) and receive international marketing assistance, inclusion in inbound education agent visits, a website listing as well as the opportunity to attend Study Auckland meetings, professional development workshops and events such as the International Student Civic Welcome. Annual membership fee starts at $500 +GST depending on sector and size of institution.
  • Targeted marketing to Study Auckland members is available. Members are made up from 120 Primary schools, Intermediate schools, Secondary schools, English Language Schools, Tertiary institutions, and Universities.

Business Tourism Bureau

The Business Tourism Bureau promotes Auckland as a destination for meetings, conference and incentive travel.

  • Become a member of the Business Tourism Bureau. Participation is beneficial to any organisation that is developing business opportunities from the conference and incentive sector. Different membership modules assist you with your marketing activity
