Getting around Auckland

As the main gateway to New Zealand, Auckland is the most accessible of all regions by plane. Car rental is available throughout the region, which is also well served by buses, ferries and trains.

Air ›

Air New Zealand is New Zealand’s national carrier and the only airline which specialises in getting you to, from and around New Zealand. Air New Zealand remains committed to delivering a uniquely Kiwi experience to its customers.

Airport Shuttle ›

Getting to and from the Airport is easy with shuttle and bus services departing regularly. Simply book a shuttle and enjoy door to door service or jump on the Airbus Express for all major hotel and backpacker stops.

Bus & Coach ›

You can get a bus to almost anywhere in Auckland. The main city terminal is the Britomart Transport Centre at the bottom of Queen Street and finding the right bus stop is easy.

Cycling ›

There are endless opportunities to enjoy cycling around Auckland, and many areas of the city have dedicated cycle lanes. Wearing a helmet is required by law while cycling on roads.

Ferries/Water Taxis ›

Climb aboard a local ferry or water taxi to discover Devonport or one of the Hauraki Gulf Islands Rangitoto Island, Waiheke Island or Tiritiri Matangi among many more. Find your sea legs as you soak up the sea air and enjoy beautiful views of Auckland’s cityscape and the Waitemata Harbour.

Motorhomes ›

Accommodation and transport in one – bingo! Discover Auckland and its wider region whilst staying in some of the most picturesque locations.

Rail ›

Britomart Transport Centre is the main city rail terminal, linking Auckland’s south, east and west. It was built as part of a programme to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution in Auckland.

Rental Cars ›

Driving around Auckland is relatively easy and a great way to see the region, though like any city you can expect traffic delays during the morning and evening rush hours. There are major motorways heading north-south and north-west, and linking motorways to the eastern suburbs.
