Getting to Auckland by air

Auckland has a spectacular airport with a world-wide reputation and is the number one transport hub in New Zealand.

Auckland's international and domestic airports are located in Manukau City, around a 45 minute drive from downtown Auckland.

Auckland Airport has an outstanding global reputation and the award-winning airport has been voted amongst the best in the world. Auckland's international and domestic airports are the number one transport hub in New Zealand.

A number of international airlines operate flights to Auckland including New Zealand's carrier, Air New Zealand. International and/or domestic airlines that fly direct to Auckland are:

The following airlines operate on a code share basis with other carriers:

A range of short term and long term car parking options are available at both the domestic and international terminals. Getting between the terminals is easy - take the free inter-terminal bus.

There are two i-SITE Visitor Centres at the airport, which can assist with finding transport to the city, accommodation bookings and other information. The international i-SITE Visitor Centre is located just outside the customs hall, to the left as you enter the meet and greet area. It is open seven days for all arriving international flights. The domestic i-SITE Visitor Centre is in the Air New Zealand terminal and is open during the day, seven days a week.

Look out for the 'Bluecoats', airport hospitality ambassadors, able to assist travellers with a range of requests. The international airport has more than 100 retail outlets, cafes, restaurants, bars, banking, currency exchange, chapel, children's playground and bathrooms with showers. Transport and transfer services from the airport

Various shuttle and taxi operators are licensed by the airport and meet all flights. You will find these services at the western side of Auckland airport's international terminals and in front of the domestic terminals. Shuttle services start at approximately NZ$20 per person and a taxi into the city will cost minimum NZ$50.

The Airbus Express operates a city-airport route every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during the evening. This service makes pick-ups and drop-offs at many major hotels and backpackers in the central city. Regular public bus services connect the airport to the central city and several other local centres. Transfer services and rental vehicles can be booked at any city or airport i-SITE Visitor Centre.
