Economic growth initiatives

ATEED has a number of economic growth initiatives, including the Growth and Competitiveness Framework, Innovation Plan, and Food and Beverage Sector Action plan.

Growth and Competitiveness Framework

The framework recognises the wide range of factors that will influence economic growth and outlines Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development’s activities to increase exports, raise productivity and grow Auckland’s economy. The activities are driven in partnership with relevant stakeholders and industries.

ATEED has targeted the following sectors that have a comparative advantage and the potential to grow:

1. Food and beverage processing

2. Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

3. Tourism, Screen and digital content

4. Construction and engineering

5. High-Value Manufacturing

6. Life Sciences including health technology and biotechnology

7. International education

8. Marine.

Innovation Plan

Innovation and technology are key drivers of economic growth.

ATEED is leading a co-ordinated approach to inspire businesses, showcase innovation and create a culture of entrepreneurship.  A collective effort will be required to achieve Auckland’s vision of becoming an innovation hub of the Asia-Pacific region.
