New WeChat ID brings Auckland closer to Chinese leisure visitors

After a long two year process, the Auckland WeChat ID created by ATEED has finally received official verification status, connecting us to 800,000,000 users in China.

Wing Lin and Summer Huang from ATEED’s Tourism Trade team worked tirelessly for the past two years in order to achieve this objective and it is hugely satisfying to receive this recent news.

Due to the rigors of obtaining this status, it is normally only granted to businesses in China. We are one of only a few New Zealand businesses – and the only regional tourism operator – to be officially verified.

Official verification now means that we are able to create virtual commerce, take payments and undertake campaigns beyond the Chinese firewall.

ATEED looks forward to providing an update to the industry on the next steps as the team works to achieve an end-to-end travel booking and visa application portal, helping bring even more leisure visitors from China to Tāmaki Makaurau in the future.
