Headland Sculpture On the Gulf 2017

Matiatia Wharf

Sculpture on the Gulf is New Zealand’s foremost outdoor sculpture exhibition and aims to make a unique contribution to the cultural life of New Zealand Aotearoa by creating opportunities for people to experience the power and beauty of contemporary sculpture in a breathtaking landscape.

Focusing on the very best of New Zealand art practice, 35 new artistic concepts, created specifically for the 2017 event, will be shown along the stunning coastal headland route and nearby surrounds.

The spectacular walk concludes at the headland Pavilion, in beautiful Matiatia Bay, where visitors can experience some of the best that Waiheke Island has to offer with a showcase of the island's food, wine and entertainment.

The 2017 headland Sculpture on the Gulf will include works that incorporate public participation or ‘social sculpture’ and reflects recent changes to a different approach to three-dimensional art practice in public space.

This event is run by a passionate Board of Directors and Management team and realised through the support of Sponsors, Partners, Friends & Patrons of the event and a large team of volunteers.

Suggested Entry Donation: $10, Families $20, Children under 15 Free.
Without your donation, this amazing sculpture event would not be possible.
