Butterfly Creek

Butterfly Creek is one of Australasia’s most exciting and colourful attractions. Our Tropical Butterfly House has over 700 free-flying exotic butterflies as well as birds, fish and reptiles. Giant saltwater crocodiles - the largest predators in the country - along with NZ’s only baby alligators. NZ’s largest tropical fresh-water and NZ’s largest marine coral aquaria – complete with Nemo and Dory.

“Bugs About” hosts the largest collection of tarantula in NZ as well as Lily’s Cockroach House and a host of other creepy crawlies - including NZ’s largest insect, the giant wetapunga. (you’ll only see this mighty insect here at Butterfly Creek).

All UNDER COVER so enjoy your visit no matter what the weather. Other features include Buttermilk Farm interactive farmyard and Barn, the Red Admiral Express Train, a great, child friendly café and Curly’s playground.
