Whitford Bird Garden
Renowned wildlife artist, Blake Twigden spent many years of his life visiting the subtropical gardens of Papua New Guinea, South America and Australia. Influenced by the exotic plants and birds in these environments, Blake came back to Auckland to create a similar subtropical garden of his own.
The garden is home to more than 1000 native and exotic plants including a 400-year-old Australian grass tree. Within the garden is a walk-in free flight aviary showcasing the exotic birds from all around the world, and a heated pool home to tropical fish from the Amazon.
Open Fridays and Saturdays 10am - 4pm; or by prior arrangement.
