Auckland is the country’s main manufacturing and distribution hub. Two thirds of the top 50 food and beverage companies in New Zealand have their head office in the city, making it the logical location for investment. The industry in Auckland contributes around $3 billion a year to the local economy.
Infrastructure, innovation and talent
Auckland has the infrastructure to support this growing sector, with more than 1,000 companies based in south Auckland and within 15km of Auckland Airport or the downtown Ports of Auckland. The Auckland region is the centre of New Zealand’s transport and logistics network, involving air, rail, trucking and shipping.
Auckland has more than 1,000 hectares of industrial land available for development, and the region has a smooth supply chain from sourcing ingredients, skilled and experienced labour to smart processing and packaging, stringent quality control and sophisticated logistics.
Around 40,000 people work within the food and beverage sector, providing a large and skilled talent base with experience and expertise right across the sector.
Auckland has easy access to all of New Zealand’s food and beverage ingredients, and processes and packages them into food & beverages (beer, wine and soft drinks) and nutraceutical products for consumers around the world.
