Team AKL is the volunteer group for major events run by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).
Becoming part of Team AKL gives you a chance to be at the heart of what’s going on in Auckland – meet new people, be at the centre of action at these great events, and help make Auckland a great place to live, work, study and visit.
If you’re enthusiastic and passionate about exciting events and everything Auckland, we would like to hear from you.
Team AKL volunteers work across a range of jobs, from being festival ambassadors, providing event information and assisting with workshops, to managing the lost children tents. The time commitment is flexible. Some volunteers might work one four-hour shift during an event, while others might work multiple shifts on every day of the event, as their time allows.
We need volunteers for the following Auckland events – Auckland Diwali Festival, ITM Auckland SuperSprint (Supercars) fan events, Downer NRL Auckland Nines fan events, Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival and Auckland Lantern Festival.*
To get involved, register online at volunteernet.org.nz.
VolunteerNet is a website operated by the New Zealand Association of Events Professionals, of which ATEED is a member. By registering at VolunteerNet, you will receive notifications about our events when they are listed, with the opportunity to apply for specific positions and view the position descriptions.
You will be able to select which events you would like to volunteer for or get more information about.
Once you have applied, we will carry out required Ministry of Justice third party checks before the event, and will invite you to a pre-event volunteer briefing.
Applications for events will be on VolunteerNet in the following timeframes:
- Diwali Festival – Open now
- ITM Auckland SuperSprint (Supercars) fan events – August 2016
- Downer NRL Auckland Nines fan events – TBC
- Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival – October 2016
- Auckland Lantern Festival – October 2016
Team AKL is an important part of what makes our events special and makes them a success. We’d love to have you as part of the team!
* Volunteering for other events is handled by event promoters. Information about other events happening and how to volunteer for them is also available at www.volunteernet.org.nz.
