Pasifika Festival official charity
Pasifika Festival has teamed up with the Mad Butcher’s Suburban Newspapers Trust in supporting the new official charity of Pasifika Festival, Make-A-Wish® New Zealand.
Make-A-Wish® will be greeting visitors to the festival at all gates with flower leis in return for donations. In total, 50,000 leis will be given to festival goers over the 9th and 10th of March. All fundraising proceeds will be donated to Make-A-Wish®.
Every day New Zealand children are diagnosed with illnesses that deeply affect their quality of life and have enormous implications for family, friends and communities. Make-A-Wish® supports children aged between 3 and 17 who suffer from life-threatening medical conditions and assists in alleviating stress and bringing families closer together.
In 2012, 183 wishes were granted to Kiwi children all around New Zealand. In 2013 the organisation wants to better this by granting over 200 wishes to children around the country.
