With a renewed focus on creating a truly authentic festival, there’s a huge range of new and exciting activities and demonstrations in the villages to showcase each culture.
Visit the fale in each village for a chance to learn about and engage with each of the 10 countries at Pasifika. Some of the highlights of the 2013 programme include:
Watch and learn traditional tattooing on display in various villages.
There will be a number of different carvers showcasing their craft throughout the event, including in the Samoa and Tokelau villages, where traditional carving demonstrations will run on Saturday and Sunday.
Take the opportunity to learn about the fantastic food on offer at Pasifika and watch the dishes being prepared using traditional methods.
See traditional weaving, costume making and mat weaving.
It wouldn’t be Pasifika without dancing, and group participation is the key. There will be lots of opportunities to learn a few moves under the guidance of tutors in the Cook Island and Samoa villages.
