China’s screen industry is a key expansion market and therefore a focus for the Screen Auckland team. Auckland has cooperation agreements with a number of key screen regions in China, and can be your gateway to that emerging screen giant.
With a growing movie-watching population and new cinemas being opened every day, China has become the second-largest box office in the world.
Hollywood feature films have begun to target China’s huge cinema audience with great success, and Screen Auckland is well placed to lead Auckland’s inroads into this significant market.
Screen Auckland has developed and maintained strong relationships with Chinese government organisations and key companies. These relationships – including screen co-operation agreements between Auckland and the governments of Guangzhou and Qingdao – and Screen Auckland’s in-market experience distinguish it as an expert in China.
Recognising that the film industries of both countries could benefit from mutual co-operation in film production, the New Zealand Government signed a co-production treaty with China.
For more information on the treaty, please visit the New Zealand Film Commission website.
Official international co-productions allow for creative and technical resources and expertise to be pooled, and can open up access to local and foreign incentives and subsidies.
Auckland is open for business with the Chinese screen industry and welcomes enquiries.
