The MAINZ Auckland campus is small, with about 300 students who work on some of the practical aspects of their course work together. For example, Live Sound students organize the sound and lighting for Performance students, Audio students record Performance students, and Music and Event Management students manage and promote MAINZ bands. Working together across programmes helps to create a friendly culture on campus, where students get to know each other and form solid networks that will be useful in their future. MAINZ students enjoy the use of state of the art recording studios, as well as computer labs, rehearsal rooms, DJ booths, and a fully equipped auditorium.
Although MAINZ has no halls of residence, there are several apartments blocks close by.
The MAINZ Auckland campus is located in the city centre, close to cafés, arts and entertainment venues, and the beautiful Auckland harbour. Auckland city is a sought-after study destination made up of a mix of people of different cultures and nationalities. As New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland provides the perfect base for visitors wishing to explore surrounding areas such as the Bay of Islands, Rotorua, and the Coromandel Peninsula, and is a short flight from the South Island.
MAINZ is a faculty of Tai Poutini, the regional polytechnic on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. MAINZ programmes therefore have the recognition and support of the New Zealand government. Tai Poutini Polytechnic is a member of NZITP (New Zealand Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics).
