More Information

Glendowie College provides quality education and believes in the pursuit of excellence.  Every student is encouraged and challenged to attain their full potential in preparation for their future.  This is achieved by providing a positive and stable learning environment that fosters excellence in academic, cultural and service endeavours.

The academic programmes offered in the Junior School (Years 9 and 10) aim to provide a broad educational base.  In the Senior School, Years 11,12 and 13, opportunities exist to undertake multi-level studies to prepare individual students for entry to tertiary education.  English as a Second Language is offered at all levels.

Glendowie College also offers the opportunity for students to participate in a wide range of cultural and sporting activities.  Individual music tuition is offered and students are able to participate in school orchestras, bands, jazz groups, ensembles, choir and cultural groups.  These groups regularly attend festivals and competitions both in New Zealand and overseas. Drama and debating are also strong features of the school.

Participation in sporting activities is encouraged at all levels.  Glendowie College students consistently achieve well at a regional, national and international level in team and individual sports.  Some forty different sports codes are offered within the College.

A range of personal development programmes to support our students are available including a life skills programme, career development, peer support, mentoring, community service, leadership development activities and education camps and trips.  Each student is given academic counselling to enable and encourage them to achieve at their individual best and plan for their future.

The Director of International students, together with the deans of each year level, provide student support in all pastoral care matters.  This includes enrolment, orientation, academic programmes, insurance, extra-care and home stay service arrangements.  Regular contact is made with the extra care givers and home stay families.

Glendowie College welcomes international students and values the contribution they make to its already rich and multi-cultural nature.
