Kaipara College is located in Helensville, a 40 minute drive nor-west of Auckland. We are a small family and community minded Year 9 -13 high school with a current roll of 630.
The school offers new modern classrooms and facilities with an average class size of 24 students. We have a highly experienced team of teachers that are student focused and the college offers a variety of subjects. There is Wi-fi available throughout the school.
Students are encouraged to aim for personal excellence and have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of academic, cultural and sporting activities. There is an extremely strong Music programme and students are encouraged and supported to preform and write their own music. The schools sporting endeavours include rugby, soccer, dragon boating, waka ama, cross country, athletics, swimming, hockey, badminton, golf, netball, touch rugby, basketball and tennis.
Students have the choice of attending additional English classes where Unit Standards are part of the programme as well as being included in mainstream English classes. Small international student numbers enable us to offer additional support with a Teacher Aid in mainstream classes if required.
Small international student numbers also ensure the students have a sense of belonging at the college and within the local community. There is a strong pastoral care support system in place and the International students have their own student centre. They will be part of a modern family homestay with a focus on traditional kiwi values and will be placed in quality homestays in the Helensville township or on small lifestyle country blocks.
The students are able to have an uniquely New Zealand experience with the advantages of having many activities in close proximity such as Muriwai Beach, Woodhill Mountain Bike Park, Horse Riding, Parakai Hot Pools, three Golf Courses, Snowplanet, hunting and fishing. Auckland city is approximately a 40 minute drive with the large shopping centres a 15-25 minutes’ drive. We strongly encourage activities outside of school and are able to develop an Academic plus programme for individual students interested in surfing, horse riding, aviation, golfing, and mountain biking. We are also focussing on giving the international students experiences in the wider Pacific and are taking trips to Australia and the Pacific Islands.
