AUT International Foundation Certificate offers guaranteed pathways to AUT University. The Programme takes 7 to 12 months with 3 starting dates per year: in January, April/May and August/ September.

AUT International Foundation Certificate provides focus in specified areas from the start of the programme. The curriculum incorporates all the latest developments in its 4 specialist areas: Business and Mathematics, Science and Electronics& Engineering. The curriculum also includes core training in English and independent learning skills.

• Standard Entry: 2 trimesters - an eight-month foundation certificate for students with an English language level of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
• Extended Entry: 3 trimesters - a twelve-month programme for students with an English language level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
• Extended Entry: 4 trimesters - a sixteen-month programme for students with an English language level of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
• Successful completion of the AUT International Foundation Certificate to prescribed grades guarantees entry to an appropriate AUT undergraduate degree The New Zealand Vice Chancellors’ Committee has approved the AUT International Foundation Certificate for entry to all New Zealand’s universities.
• The programme has also been approved for entry to selected Australian universities, including Queensland University of Technology (QUT), RMIT and UTS.
• AUT International Foundation Certificate offers guaranteed pathways to AUT University Since 2003, 95% of students who completed the AUT International Foundation Certificate have received confirmed offers of place at AUT.

Standard Entry

• An eight-month (two-trimester) foundation certificate for students with an English language level of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
• Successful completion of the Certificate provides guaranteed entry to AUT University and is accepted by all New Zealand universities
• The curriculum includes core training in English and independent learning skills

Extended Entry

• A twelve-month programme
• The programme prepares students to enter the AUT International Foundation Certificate
• Designed for students who have IELTS5.0 and/or their academic record is below the minimum stated academic entry requirement
