Belmont Intermediate School

Belmont Intermediate School is a well-resourced decile 10 school situated on the Devonport peninsula on Auckland’s North shore, surrounded by beautiful beaches and only 15 minutes from Auckland city.  Built in 1957 Belmont was one of the first Intermediate schools to be established.

Our vision is to challenge and inspire every student to become a confident, connected actively involved life-long learner.  Our teaching programmes foster thinking skills and communication, while encouraging a responsible and self-directed approach, which is challenging and engaging for this age group. 

Belmont Intermediate welcomes international students from age 10 to 13 years of age, (Years 7 & 8).  Students are taught alongside New Zealand students in a supportive classroom environment to encourage the development of English language skills and social relationships. 
The school provides in-depth ESOL lessons and a dedicated teacher aide along with a native language pastoral care support.

There is a wide variety of opportunities for students to challenge and inspire them including 22 different sports ranging from aerobics to yachting; the arts including drama, dance and music and academic opportunities including mathex, science fair, literature quiz, chess club, otago maths and ICAS tests.

The school has 19 homerooms and 5 specialist rooms, including a language suite, music room, dance studio, technology block.  Belmont is the only intermediate school with a dedicated science lab a specialist science teacher.
