Birkenhead College is only 15 minutes by bus from the city centre, and is close to several different beaches and parks. The school has spacious grounds, playing fields and excellent facilities including a theatre, swimming pool, modern computer rooms, drama and music suites, science laboratories, art rooms, library, gymnasium, photographic laboratory and technology workshops. It offers a full range of subjects from Year 9 to Year 13.

We are committed to academic excellence, and proud of our significant success in sport, cultural and community activities. Most of our students go onto tertiary studies.

A wide range of sports and cultural activities are offered, with large numbers of students involved in music groups, drama, choir, debating and sports teams.

We welcome International Students and value the contribution of other cultures to our school life. The care of our International Students is a high priority.  International Students live with a NZ family in a homestay situation. This is arranged through the school and enables students to learn and practise English in a family environment.
