Mount Albert Grammar School
Mount Albert Grammar School is a Government Co-educational High School, founded in 1922, with a total roll of over 2000 boys and girls, of which 4% are international students from all over the world. Located in spacious grounds in central suburban Auckland, just 15 minutes from the downtown city and 20 minutes from the airport the School has extensive facilities that are equal to best in New Zealand, including a farm, 2 heated, indoor swimming pools and a second, new gymnasium.
It is a School of spirit, pride and tradition, emphasizing academic achievement within a caring and supportive environment, and it is committed to providing ample opportunity for each student who enters its gates to achieve their maximum potential. The School has the distinction of ISO 9001 certification for its education systems.
The school warmly welcomes International Students at all levels. Many have done outstandingly well academically, both in the school and in their further studies at universities in New Zealand and in other countries. A Government-certified English Language High School preparation course is available, to allow students to improve their English before moving to mainstream classes. Pastoral Care is a major emphasis with enrolment, accommodation (Homestays for boys and girls and a Boarding Hostel for boys) and student support all organised by the International Department.
