Auckland Council’s Economic Development Strategy 2012-2022 (EDS) sets out the tangible steps Auckland is taking to become an internationally competitive, prosperous economy that all Aucklanders can benefit from and participate in. As a central pillar of Auckland Councilʹs economic vision, the visitor economy needs to be enhanced in ways that deliver the greatest long‐term benefits for Aucklanders. This requires the development of a clear aspiration for the Auckland visitor economy supported by an investment road map and a tangible set of actions. This Visitor Plan presents a 10-year investment and action plan that satisfies these requirements, and articulates how ATEED and Auckland Council will deliver the outcomes identified.

Auckland is poised to significantly build its visitor economy with the help of a 10-year Business Events Plan designed to grow the value of the conventions sector to a $430 million industry by 2023. The plan outlines how Auckland Convention Bureau (ACB) will help build a world-class business events sector in Auckland over the next decade. Auckland’s first Business Events Plan has been developed by ACB – part of Auckland Tourism, Event and Economic Development (ATEED).

The Auckland Innovation Plan outlines the priorities and actions identified by ATEED to build a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Auckland. This plan aims to build on Auckland’s entrepreneurial foundations and develop innovation led entrepreneurship as a key driver for Auckland’s economic growth. This will ensure our businesses grow faster, employ more skilled Aucklanders in higher paid jobs, are flexible and well positioned to take advantage of emerging opportunities – both nationally and globally.

Each year ATEED completes a Statement of Intent as required under the Local Government Act 2002. The Statement of Intent set out the objectives, nature and scope of activities undertaken and performance targets for ATEED. It represents the objectives, nature and scope of activities undertaken, and performance targets by which we will be measured. It covers the three years of our operations from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2020.
