Viaduct and Silo Marinas in Auckland, New Zealand are pleased to welcome superyachts visiting for the 36th America’s Cup Regatta in 2021.

The marinas sit within the America’s Cup Race Village that is currently under construction, and are working closely with Emirates Team New Zealand on event planning.

They say it’s already evident that there are many vessels interested in berthing at the heart of the action, and they want to enable all boats to plan their activities for the regatta well in advance.

To facilitate this, all vessels larger than 25m wishing to berth at Viaduct Marina or Silo Marina between 1 October 2020 and 31 March 2021 should register their expression of interest at ac36hub.co.nz. The deadline for expressions of interest is 1 August 2019.

Both Silo Marina and Viaduct Marina have been at full capacity for the summer just been.

“Auckland’s marinas are thriving,” says Panuku Development Auckland’s Acting General Manager of Marinas Kevin Lidgard. “The America’s Cup is a catalyst for yet more superyachts to visit Auckland and we want to provide a warm welcome.”

“This expression of interest programme allows us to identify the yachts that wish to be here. We aim for all boats to know very soon if they have a berth for the regatta period, with the option of joining a wait list if we can’t accommodate them, or making arrangements with other marinas.”

The fully serviced marinas are located within the America’s Cup Race Village, in walking distance to the central business district and are also on the doorstep of some of New Zealand’s very best island-cruising grounds in the Hauraki Gulf.

Kevin Lidgard recommends that all superyacht owners, captains, and agents plan their trips to New Zealand well in advance.

“If we can’t offer you a berth, we can offer to put you on a wait list, or recommend that you contact other marinas,” he says.

Decisions about allocation of berths will be made by Panuku with Emirates Team New Zealand and the Crown, taking into account the many different considerations relating to berthage in the area during the regatta.
