Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.
Popular songs from the 60s to now. These 40 minute classes are for those who have completed the beginner's course, or have taken lessons elsewhere. Students are assessed at the beginning of the semester and a 40 minute timeslot within the 6:20 - 9:00 PM time range is allocated. Students are arranged into small groups with others of similar ability.
Each course runs over a semester for a total of 16 weeks (eight classes per school term).

Own instrument required. This course is designed for adult learners. We will accept learners 14 years of age and over.
About the tutor: Darmatin Harmadi graduated in 1984 with the Yamaha Certificate of Advancement for Classic Guitar Performance Grade 9 and 10. He won 2nd prize in a guitar classical competition in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia in 1989. He attended Masterclass guitar courses led by Prof Leo Witozynskyj (Sweden) for 2 months in 1992. He taught as a guitar teacher in Sonare Music School in Singapore August 1999 until July 2000. Since moving to New Zealand, Darmatin has been teaching guitar as itinerant teacher in Auckland. His task is consistently motivating, inspiring, teaching classical (plucking) and popular (strumming) guitar styles, and developing students' interest in music.
