Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development (ATEED) has partnered with popular travel guide and map producer AA Traveller to create the Official Auckland Visitor Guide | Te Puka Ārahi Manuhiri ki Tāmaki Makaurau.

The new visitor guide for Auckland can be identified by its unique cover design, reflecting on the diverse culture and attractions of the city and its regions. It features a range of editorial content to engage and inspire visitors to learn more about Auckland and how to spend their time here; and Te Reo is integrated throughout to help our visitors understand more about our country’s inaugural language.

Two editions will be produced per year, for both summer and winter. Maps to complement the guides are currently being designed.

The guide (and subsequent maps) can be found in visitor information centres around the country, in AA Centres and AA Drivers Licensing Agencies, airports, rental car companies, accommodation providers and other key tourism locations. It is also available online.

Delivering the Official Auckland Visitor Guide was a great opportunity to think about our Destination AKL strategy and how to incorporate some of its key elements into the guide’s content and design. A few notable ways that this has been achieved is by recognising Auckland as a cultural city of the Pacific, highlighting Māori and Pasifika activity, and promoting the greater Auckland regions.

The winter edition of the guide, available from May 2019, will also be a great opportunity to promote Auckland as a year-round destination.
