The finalists for the annual New Zealand Event Awards (NZEA) were announced today and Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development (ATEED) has been shortlisted for three categories:

Auckland Lantern Festival - Best Arts or Cultural Event 2019.

Auckland Diwali Festival - Best Local Government Event 2019.

Simone Pakieto, one of many amazing Event Producer’s for ATEED's delivered events, such as Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival and Pasifika Festival, is a finalist in the Best Emerging Event Professional 2019 category.

The number of entries in this year’s Awards was the highest ever received, so the competition was incredibly fierce. To be named a finalist is a significant achievement and worthy of celebration.

In addition to ATEED's achievements, a number of Auckland events and professionals have been shortlisted in the wide-range of categories available - a fantastic win for the region.

And in line with the Destination AKL 2025 strategy, to develop Auckland and New Zealand's food story, ATEED has sponsored a category for NZEA for "Best Food Experience", which will be a surprise win on the Award's night.

The winners will be announced at the New Zealand Event Awards Gala Evening at The University of Auckland’s Pavilion on Monday, 11 May.
