New Zealand Fashion Week, Aotearoa's most glamourous week, starts in Auckland today until Suday, 1 September.

Glitz and glam is in the air! It's inspired us to keep the magic going off the runway, so here's our Top 10 list of Insta-worthy, fashionable finds within easy reach of the catwalk.

1. Seafood by the ocean

Auckland is surrounded by harbours, so it’s easy to find incredible seafood here and enjoy it right on the water. The amazing restaurants at the Viaduct Harbour are Instagram favourites for divine oysters, classic cocktails and sunset views.

2. Street art backdrops

Street art from around the world features on Instagram daily, and Auckland shouldn’t be any different. Gilles Avenue in Newmarket has incredible murals that pop with colour, creative urban sculptures can be found at Ponsonby’s Western Park, and Britomart’s Snickel Lane is perfect for alternative art.

3. Industrial chic

Industrial history meets waterfront luxury at Wynyard Quarter, an area that is transforming into a hotspot for Instagrammers. Use the graffitied silos for a grunge-inspired backdrop or snap a selfie on Karanga Plaza steps.

4. Avant-garde food

Auckland is home to a wide range of unique eateries and dishes that are definitely worthy of Instagram love. The region is home to more than 200 different ethnicities, creating an exciting melting post of cuisines and experiences that need to be shared.

5. Sky high views

Snap a selfie 192-metres above the ground from the observation deck of Auckland’s tallest building - the Sky Tower. With a 360-degree view of the city, choose your backdrop of cityscape or island-filled harbour. If you choose to walk the SkyWalk, make sure you work that orange jumpsuit!

6. Get back to nature

Albert Park is home to towering, dinosaur-like trees that truly impress. A local favourite is the Ombu tree with its huge hollow base – every side is its ‘good side’ so the photo ops are endless!

7. Photogenic bars

Step back in time – speakeasy style – at Britomart’s underground venue Caretaker, enjoy the chandeliers and red velvet seats of Vodka Room in Ponsonby, or bask in the afternoon sun at Dr Rudi’s above the Viaduct Harbour.

8. Sail away

Auckland is famous for its boating culture, so why not take advantage? Use luxury yachts as your Instagram backdrop, or even jump on board – charter a yacht with Explore for a photo-filled trip on the sparkling blue harbour.

9. Art meets Fashion

Capture the culture! Head to the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki for the Frances Hodgkins: European Journeys exhibition, on until Sunday 1 September. Local designer, Karen Walker, took inspiration from this work for her Frances Hodgkins: Framed by Karen Walker collection.

Simply wander the streets to stumble across the best backdrop that suits your style: aged and ripped concert posters still clinging to the wall, store windows of kawaii cuteness, or something special that is yet to be discovered!
