Art, Wine & Dine at Brick Bay

For Elemental this year, Brick Bay is hosting a special event that will take you on a sensory journey of sight, sound, taste and smell.

All while connecting you with land & culture and awakening your inner artist to create something beautiful to take home.

Your day will begin with the Whetū Iti workshop, led by experienced Art Facilitator Geva Downey (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Awa).

The workshop starts with an introduction to Matariki and is followed by guided experimentation with natural plant pigments and native dyes on paper, whilst learning about the plants and their uses.

The workshop will be followed by a relaxed 3-course lunch which is designed to connect you with the whenua at Brick Bay.

Brick Bay’s flourishing vegetable garden produces an array of garden greens, herbs and edible flowers. Fruit trees are adorned with peaches, plums, citrus, pecans and macadamias and the lamb comes straight from the farm.

Combining these truly local ingredients with those from nearby artisan producers, Brick Bay’s passionate chefs create inspired seasonal dishes of contemporary New Zealand cuisine.

The lunch includes a wine-tasting paddle of Brick Bay's estate-grown wine (alc free options available). A self-guided tour of the famous Brick Bay Sculpture Trail is also included in your ticket price. You are welcome to explore the trail after the workshop, or if you prefer to come back another time we will provide you with a ticket to take home.
