If you want to watch art take shape, and maybe even be inspired in your own creativity, take a look at some of these lively demonstrations on offer around East Auckland during the month of July.
Art Assignment at The Art Lounge
Watch some of the region’s top Year 12 and 13 art students take part in this exciting project. With participants handpicked from local colleges, on Monday 19 July, each student will receive a canvas, four colours and a brief, then set to work. And that’s when visitors are invited to stop by The Art Lounge to watch the students in action as they create their masterpieces. Works will be exhibited for three days from 22 - 24 July, before prizegiving on Saturday afternoon, 24 July. For more details, call (09) 533 641.

Watch local artist Joel Nicholls
Head to the Uxbridge Arts and Culture Centre and watch as Joel Nicholls creates an original work of art. To view more of Joel’s work visit Rice’s Mall and look out for the painted piano. Works by the winners and runners up of the prestigious Estuary Art & Ecology Exhibition will also be on view here and the café is open from 9am to 3pm.

Enjoy artist demonstrations by the Howick Art Group at The Fencible Lounge, and if you like what you see, take a short stroll to the group’s regular home, Green Gables in Cook Street.

Clevedon Creatives and Co

This presentation promises to be groovy and unusual, featuring the art of beloved Polish artists Stanislaw Lem and Daniel Mróz, famed for their unique and often absurd science fiction writing and illustrations.
