Screen Auckland and Yoobee Colleges have joined forces to support the sustainable growth of Auckland’s screen industry.
A recently agreed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will provide Yoobee Colleges film and television students with support, training and professional development, in turn contributing to confident and industry-ready graduates.
With a significant increase in film projects and associated permitting, Screen Auckland relies on strong relationships with tertiary education providers and development of robust and high-quality training programmes to foster the next generation of Auckland’s highly skilled screen workforce.
“Working with Yoobee Colleges staff and students is a pleasure and a privilege. This relationship will help us to meet our long-term objective of supporting career development pathways for a strong screen workforce,” says Jasmine Millet, Manager Screen Auckland.
“We live and work in an increasingly complex environment. Having an informed next generation of screen practitioners who understand how to work collaboratively bodes well for the sustainability of our local industry,” says Jasmine.
As part of the agreement, Screen Auckland will provide Yoobee students with:
- Annual training on-screen industry health and safety and the film permitting process
- Workshops to support specific sector needs – such as filming in COVID-19, and FilmApp training
- A film location guide tailored for students
- A full waiver of film permit fees for all approved tertiary curriculum projects and activities
Yoobee Colleges is a leading tertiary training provider for screen skills and talent development, and the agreement will benefit around 180 students enrolled in its Level 5 Film and Content Creation and Level 6 Film and Content creation programmes annually.

The MOU will also provide students with general film facilitation services and support, including location feasibility, enquiries and advice, and film permit application processing.
