Tātaki Auckland Unlimited is the region’s economic development agency. Its purpose is to support the growth of quality jobs for all Aucklanders. In this role, the organisation is taking the lead in creating awareness of the skills required by Auckland’s future workforce – identifying challenges and opportunities, and highlighting the changing skills needed for the improved productivity and economic development of New Zealand’s largest city.

The future is now

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited commissioned exclusive research on the future skills needs for Auckland to help employers and industry to plan and prepare for the future of work. The research findings were presented at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited's Future Ready Summit 2019, where a number of specialists on the future of work spoke about what the next decade could look like. Presentations included case studies, the use of robots, AI and automation in the workplace, the role of education, and the need for Aucklanders to embrace life-long learning and personal development.

The summit was used as a platform to launch the research and engage businesses in a conversation around how technological disruption is already changing the way we work. While some companies have already embraced new technology, others have yet to start their future ready journeys.

The summit highlighted the need for Government, business and industry to work together to make Auckland future ready in order to encourage productivity, growth and inclusive prosperity for all Aucklanders.
