Family fun

“There are so many cool things to do out near the airport – mountain biking, mini golf, paintball, go karting and heaps more. Check it out if you’ve got kids or visiting family, but beware, it brings out the competitive streak in some of us!”

Rainbow’s End theme park

Hit the rides at Rainbow’s End, New Zealand’s largest theme park. Old favourites like the Log Flume and the Corkscrew Coaster are now joined by newer attractions including the Stratosfear, Fear Fall and Invader, while the Kidz Kingdom has rides especially for kids eight and under.

Scares at Spookers

Still haven’t been to Spookers yet? Scream your way through the haunted house, freaky forest and corn maze, among ghosts, ghouls, monsters and the odd chainsaw wielding madman. Some attractions are R16 but several cater for younger ones, with less gore and just the right amount of scare.

Vector Wero Whitewater Park

Feel the rush at Vector Wero Whitewater Park – the park’s experiences range from gentle river rafting for beginners through to big waves and the highest man-made waterfall in the world.

From animal encounters to paintball

Check out some of the attractions near the Auckland Airport, including paintball, go kart racing, a ropes course, a Treasure Island-themed mini-golf course, and Butterfly Creek, where you can see crocodiles, farm animals and thousands of colourful butterflies.

Glenbrook Vintage Railway

Take the kids for a ride on the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, a 15km trip through the countryside to the historic town of Waiuku aboard a restored steam train. Book an upgrade for the First Class Parlour Car, with a covered outdoor platform for the best views and plush seats inside.
