Some of the best thought leaders in the world will converge on Auckland next year when the region hosts the Global Speaking Summit at SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre.

The Global Speakers Summit brings together the latest and best practices in learning, marketing, selling from the stage, positioning and branding.

Auckland Convention Bureau (ACB) – a division of Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development (ATEED) – with support from Tourism New Zealand and the National Speakers Association, compiled the winning bid for Auckland.

ACB Manager Anna Hayward says securing another bid win this year highlights the strong momentum of the Auckland sector.

“Auckland as a business events destination is really competing strongly on the world stage, and the region’s merits as one of those bucket list destinations, combined with ease of access, ease of doing business, and a strong events infrastructure helped secure the win against some tough international competition,” she says.

“Auckland is now emerging as a knowledge capital of the Asia Pacific region. It competes strongly on the world stage for export revenue, talent and investment, making it a great place to meet and exchange ideas.”

President National Speakers Association of NZ, Glen Sharkey, says: “We are excited about the opportunity to host the Global Speakers Summit here in Auckland. This milestone summit will be a place where executives from around the globe will come together to connect with some of the greatest thought leaders in the sector and provide a platform to show to the world the significance of New Zealand’s talents and expertise.”

Lisa Gardiner, Manager Business Events and Premium says: “New Zealand is performing well as an international business events destination attracting events over the last four years that will deliver over $310 million to the economy.

“Targeting the international business events sector is an important part of Tourism New Zealand’s strategy to grow the value of international visitors to New Zealand. Business events delegates have the potential to help spread visitors across the off-peak season, support employment and bring significant economic benefit to the country.”

The Global Speaking Summit 2018 is expected to attract more than 220 professional trainers, speakers, consultants, MCs and Business Leaders who each speak to an audience of more than 3,000 people globally each year.

The Summit, themed ‘Four Days of Transforming Our World’ will be held 23-26 February 2018.
