We have a key role to play in the Auckland Pacific Skills Shift, an initiative to support Auckland Pacific peoples in low-skilled precarious work to transition into quality employment.

The initiative received $22.1 million in the Budget, and ATEED will receive part of this investment to deliver in-work module (micro-credential) learning to support Pacific workers into sustainable employment pathways.

We were one of three agencies to have programmes funded, following a successful pilot with Sustainable Business Council members – particularly Sanford – and based on interest from large employers across Auckland.

We are proud to see the pilot project graduates honoured at a ceremony this week.

The ATEED component of the initiative will benefit a significant number of Pacific workers in Auckland over the next four years and will be delivered through partnerships with industry and employers of large numbers of Pacific workers. Our work will complement interventions by other initiative partners The Southern Initiative and The Cause Collective.

Our Skills team plans to talk to large Auckland employers with significant Pacific workforces in the coming months about taking part in the initiative. If your organisation has a Pacific workers and you would like to know more, please contact [email protected]
