Aucklanders will be able to celebrate the Black Ferns’ Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 victory at a free public event on Thursday, 28 September at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau.

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says: “The celebration will be a chance for Aucklanders to show how proud they are of the team, and acknowledge their ongoing success on the world stage.

“I'm incredibly proud of the team’s achievement, and I know Aucklanders will want to turn out in numbers to celebrate the Black Ferns – passionate players who in many cases, have made big sacrifices for the love of their sport.”

Event details are currently being worked through, and further information will be provided early next week.
Details confirmed at this stage are:

  • The Black Ferns Celebration will take place at the Vodafone Events Centre from 11am–1pm
  • Doors open at 10am
  • The Black Ferns will bring the Women's Rugby World Cup winning trophy and share their success with friends, family and fans
  • The Auckland event will be livestreamed to allow fans around New Zealand to enjoy the celebrations. Live stream details will be confirmed early next week.
Media accrediation:
  • Access to the Black Ferns stage walk, and front of house will be strictly limited to event TV personnel only
  • Media accrediation will be required to access the arrival and arena media mixed zones
  • Access to public space will be unrestricted
