The Hillary Trail, Rangitoto, Tiritiri Matangi and Auckland central are some of the iconic locations that have been captured on Google Maps, in a special project undertaken by Google in collaboration with ATEED to capture landmarks and attractions in Auckland.
ATEED was approached by Google to assist with locations and logistics, and the Hillary Trail was put forward, along with Rangitoto and Tiritiri Matangi and Auckland central locations not accessible by the Google StreetView car.
Obtaining Streetview images from around Auckland's most beautiful and iconic sites and placing them on Google Maps allows the public to have easy virtual access to important parts of our region's landscape. Google has already captured Rangitoto and Tiritiri Matangi, and The Hillary Trail will be filmed in May.
