We welcome Debra Escaño to the ACB team in the role of Sales Executive – covering Stephanie Rice while she is on maternity leave welcoming a new member to her family.
We wanted to share a bit more about Debra and what makes her tick – Debra grew up on a farm in rural New Zealand, not an event space or hotel in sight. After she returned home from three years living in the UK & Ireland she relocated to Auckland.
What Debs loves about Auckland is that there is always something new to discover - or rediscover.
"Auckland is big enough to never get bored, but small enough to feel like home. City life but with a nature filled backyard. Within a day you can visit white or black sand beaches, spend time on or beside the water, hike to a waterfall, do a spot of shopping or visit one of the many attractions, then relax with a glass of wine and a delicious meal at one of our many outstanding restaurants.”
Debra is passionate about venues and hotels (a self-confessed hotel and venue geek!) and would do site inspections all day everyday if she could. One thing we love about Debra is that she religiously photographs and takes notes on every place she stays and with no preference to accommodation type, she experiences everything - the rustic to the minimalist, boutique to huge chain hotels. Same goes for venues, everywhere is the perfect place for something or someone.
Debra brings with her experience across the events, tourism and hospitality industries. Most recently in events where she both managed events at a venue, as well as end to end management of a collegial events programme around New Zealand for the legal profession.
Debra also worked in travel for over 8 years, so product knowledge and asking the right questions to make the best recommendations is a well-honed skill of hers.
