Tāmaki Makaurau’s unique Māori history, heritage and contemporary culture will be centre stage at the Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival on Auckland’s waterfront from Saturday 28 – Monday 30 January 2017 (Auckland Anniversary Weekend).
Enjoy three days of traditional and contemporary Māori culture, with performances from emerging and established Māori musicians, as well as Auckland’s top kapa haka groups.
Wander the village marketplace and discover delicious kai from Māori chefs and a variety of authentic arts and crafts.
Experience traditional Māori games, workshops and talks, healing and ta moko, and storytelling centred on the stories of Tāmaki Makaurau.
Try something different and take part in the have-a-go waka experiences and sailings, or watch the exciting tribal waka races on the Waitematā Harbour.

The free, family-friendly Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival is being delivered by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) in partnership with the 19 mana whenua of Tāmaki Makaurau.
