Auckland’s oldest suburb is now one of its most stylish. Pick up unique designer clothing, exquisite handmade jewellery and quality homewares in Parnell village’s upmarket stores and boutiques. Wander through the small art galleries to browse or buy local artworks.

Lunch at one of the hip local cafés, or by night choose from a wide range of cuisines, from Italian to Japanese and Pacific Rim, or sip fine wines at one of the sophisticated bars. Visit the La Cigale French Market on Saturdays and Sundays for delicious French cheeses, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, artisan breads, oils, spices and homemade preserves. Afterwards, take a stroll through the Parnell Rose Gardens, also known as The Dove Myer Robinson Park, to see new and old rose varieties, or visit the beautiful Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Newmarket

Newmarket Shopping District

Newmarket is Auckland’s premiere fashion, shopping and entertainment destination. Known for its leafy, boutique-lined streets and cobbled pavements, this high-end precinct is home to more than 500 retail stores and 120 cafes.

One of Auckland’s first trading posts, travellers of olde would stop in Newmarket to re-shod horses, trade livestock and goods, and enjoy some hospitality. Today, it's home to New Zealand’s best selection of designer stores, including Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, WORLD, Juliette Hogan, Moochi, RUBY and Kathryn Wilson.

The recently redeveloped Westfield Newmarket has more than 230 new stores and eateries, including the exciting new ‘Rooftop on Broadway’.

Street art by local and international artists set the scene for an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and activities. Take your kids to the bowling alley or catch a film at one of Newmarket's two movie complexes.

Newmarket is an accessible hotspot with the regions second busiest train station in the heart of the precinct, as well as being on the Inner and Outer City Bus Link.
