Starting with an 11.30am pickup we then head West for the hills. Forming a barrier between the often fierce South westerlies and Auckland city is the Waitakere Ranges. Renowned for their lush vegetation and gigantic trees the Waitakeres are also Aucklanders' playground with many walks and attractions. After seeing the Ranges and some epic viewpoints we then traverse the ridges and head out to the Coast to see two very different black sand beaches ,Karekare , isolated and broody and the site of Jane Campions film "The Piano" and also Karekare waterfall and then the Iconic surf beach Piha more populated and built up with probably New Zealand's most photographed rock, Lion Rock . We also enjoy some wholesome food at the local Piha Cafe.
