I visited Man O'War last Sunday, 26th March with 2 others. We just happened upon it as we were exploring the island and decided to stop for a glass of wine and some nibbles. We spent $73 for a bottle of Rosé and a platter. The platter was made to serve 2 people but the lady behind the bar said to add some extra bread and it would suit 3. We were really full after that! Great value for money. Sitting right by the water at a picnic table drinking wine and eating was so lovely.
Situated on the eastern side of the island is one of the few wineries (probably anywhere on Earth) that has its own beach :-) The drive is fun, but the final location is sublime, with a tasting barn and park like setting. There are a good selection of picnic tables and bean bags overlooking the water! We had two of their amazing tasting platters, plus a few wines to taste and a bottle of their fantastic rosé! If you feel like taking your wine for a swim try to arrive around high tide otherwise you will need to walk out quite a way.
What a venue. Great atmosphere about the whole place. We (2) had a platter for 2 that sufficed our stomach and taste buds. Service was quick and thorough. Can't beat the MOW Exiled Pinot Gris on a warm day. Fantastic place to stop whilst venturing around waiheke by boat.
Just utterly spectacular location....Waiheke Island! Wine tasting was free and wine cost starting from $25/bottle. We ordered cheese platter which cost about $45 which is good for at least 4 people. As expected, summer is always the best time to go there....wine and the view overlooking the beach. Always busy, so bookings recommended! Must visit in Waiheke Island ????
Tried to buy 2 bottles of the Valhalla Chardonnay advertised at $38 on the take out list to take home. Was told they are running low so now would change the restaurant price of $57.....spoke to the manager and he said it's their perogative. Just plain greedy I say!!
