Rebecca's TopPlaces to Visitin AucklandRebecca Dalliessi is the owner of Lot Nineteen, a little coffee shop in Onehunga best known for its iconic cinnamon rolls. Onehunga is her happy place - a neighbourhood she loves for its cosy cafés, treasure-filled op shops, and above all, the people. Here, Rebecca shares a few of her favourite local spots.
One of our favourite spots for a coffee or matcha is Dear Deer — it’s super close to us. I love popping in; they roast all their beans on-site, and it’s really cool to see such a huge variety of different coffees.
Another place I love is Sweet and Me - a cute little Pacific-inspired bakery where everything is delicious. My favourite has to be the Pineapple Pie. Bert and the team are incredible - they’re always so welcoming and happy to see you. I absolutely love it!
There are so many op shops in Onehunga - I love going! I usually pop in after work, just walk up the road and have a look. One of my favourites is St. Vincent de Pauls - they’ve got a huge range of clothes and homewares. Everything you need!
A place I love to go for lunch is Ajimi. The ramen is absolutely delicious - and at only $13, you can’t go wrong. I’ve never been to Japan, but it’s exactly how I imagine a little spot there would feel. The vibe is great, and the staff are incredible - they always shout hello and goodbye, which adds to the charm. It’s a cute little spot that’s always busy.
Every day after work, I head up to Cornwall Park and do a little loop around the hill. Sometimes I’ll go all the way up - but not usually, haha. It’s beautiful in every season, and you get to see the lambs and cows. It’s such a peaceful spot and really helps me decompress after the day. It’s a little bit of ‘me time,’ which is always nice - and important.
