The Tourism Sustainability Commitment aims to ensure economic, environmental and social sustainability becomes a genuine underpinning of our industry. It was developed by the tourism industry for the tourism industry, and establishes 8 industry-level sustainable Goals and 14 Commitments that individual businesses can achieve to help the industry reach the Goals.

In May, ATEED appointed a new tourism sustainability executive, Amanda Pearson, who is supporting Auckland operators and encouraging sustainability in Auckland’s visitor economy in alignment with Destination AKL 2025 and national tourism sustainability initiatives.

If you haven't already signed up to the commitment it's easy to do so, and you can find information about the TSC here, but in a nutshell:

•    It’s free to sign up;
•    You don’t have to me a member of TIA (and there’s no obligation to join);
•    It only takes a minute;
•    It’s basically a pledge which says that your business is committed to making a difference and finding ways to be more sustainable;
•    It’s up to you how much or little you do, the whole idea is to take an industry-wide approach and get everyone in the industry doing something, so collectively we make a difference.

We would love to hear and share your stories about what you are doing around sustainability here and with TIA. Please get in contact with Amanda Pearson on [email protected].
