Our Land Is Alive is Cordis Auckland’s much-loved destination bar and for Elemental 2022 it’s hosting a very special masterclass where guests will learn the secrets behind two of the bar’s most popular cocktails.
The aim of the class is to teach the basic mechanics of cocktail creation by using the Tamaki Sour - a citrus and whiskey-based creation featuring a fluffy egg white topping- and the Hauraki Sunrise - a long and refreshing drop with a strong fruit backbone, driven by vodka – as examples.
Begin this riveting hour-long session by learning about the development of these cocktails, the bar’s passion for New Zealand products, as well as its methodology and the process mixologists go through when designing a new cocktail.
Led by Our Land’s master bartender, this dynamic event will include a sharing platter that embodies the elemental powers of nature:
Wood: Duck ham with duck liver pâté and golden raison
Fire: Leek ash-wrapped fiery smoked Wairarapa lamb rump
Earth: Thyme-marinated Portobello mushrooms
Water: Hot smoked Mt Cook salmon pâté
Metal: Tangy beet-pickled egg, garnished with silver leaf
All served with sourdough bread, butter and pickles.
