Immerse yourself and your whānau into the world of Māori narratives, nature, its abundance interwoven with iwi and local stories.
Enjoy the slow-paced hīkoi as you listen to a site-specific audio connecting and unlocking the hidden meaning of this whenua.
While you contemplate and see Rangitoto in a new light, a deeper meaning will rise from the moana, evoke a strong emotion and continue to glow in the dark as we embrace the ancestral wisdom from within.
Join us as we hīkoi (walk) under the night sky along Takapuna Beach whilst listening to the pūrākau (stories of origin) of the land underfoot through a recorded headset which you will be provided with.
This leisurely, undulating walk is achievable for most ages and abilities.
This audio-immersive experience has been uniquely designed by the award-winning creative agency at Papaya Stories and Takapuna Boating Club to share the history of our local parks and places, whilst sharing Te Ao Māori world view of our taiao (the environment.)
