Ahi – An Auckland Food Story
Renowned chef Ben Bayly has travelled extensively to source inspiration for the menu at his ground-breaking restaurant Ahi.
Opened last year in downtown’s innovative Commercial Bay complex, Ahi – te reo for fire – features the freshest, finest ingredients and is regarded as one of Auckland’s hottest new restaurants.
To celebrate Ben’s philosophy that food is more than just sustenance, and that a meal should tell a story, Ben has put together two events that honour producers from all over Tāmaki Makaurau, the talented people who help shape Ahi’s signature dishes.
From seasonal fungi foraged around Riverhead, to flounder caught in Manukau Harbour, and the wholesome produce from the gardens of Patumahoe, Tāmaki Makaurau is bountiful, with the surrounding land and waters providing outstanding ingredients.
This interactive dining experience promises a skilfully crafted tasting menu displaying various local delicacies, with dishes presented by the producers themselves and matched with local wines.
Relish views across the Waitematā Harbour while you hear from the people who work on whenua and moana, land and sea, as they share stories that will inspire and nourish.
