Volunteering Auckland

If your corporate team wants to make a difference, become a member of Volunteering Auckland. It offers a bespoke matching service to connect corporate employee teams with community projects run by its non-profit members, with activities ranging from boat cleaning to sorting donated goods or Business Bitching (that’s baking for the uninitiated)!  

Not only will they help ensure your volunteering days are well organised and successful, but they can also support you in achieving your CSR objectives, helping you measure impact with reports and feedback.

Corporate Challenge Events

This specialist corporate team building company offers programmes across the Auckland region that both do good and feel good. Bikes For Tykes is New Zealand’s original charity bike building programme, supporting teams to work together with the overall goal to build a bike from scratch and put a smile on an underprivileged child’s face.

Cultivate meaningful connections with the environment and your team at Kelmarna Community Farm in Ponsonby. At this 4.5 acre certified organic garden, you can get your hands dirty, discover more about Kelmarna’s farm and work, engage with the issues surrounding food and sustainability, and learn practical skills for food growing and sustainable living, all while achieving meaningful work that contributes to community work and farm life. 

Typical events include a farm tour and introduction, hands-on garden activities, and a communal lunch prepared from the garden.

EcoMatters

With a mission to connect people and place, to nurture kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and help restore our environment, EcoMatters offers a range of experiences to help your team reconnect with nature, give back to the community, or to learn more about sustainable living.

Outdoor team building activities include nurturing native plants, working in organic gardens and restoring West Auckland streams. You can also choose from a range of interactive workshops about cooking, composting and greener living, hosted at their EcoHub in New Lynn. Proceeds from these events go towards the charitable trust's environmental projects around Auckland.

Motutapu Outdoor Education Camp

Perhaps better known as a camping destination for schools, Motutapu Outdoor Education Camp also offers programmes designed for corporates. Guests not only have access to property facilities but have the luxury of being able to explore more than 3,800 hectares of scenic recreation reserve over both Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands.  

Get involved in tree planting, weed control, nursery work and all sorts of restoration activities. Enjoy a day out of the city, enjoy fresh air and exercise, and connect with colleagues while creating a legacy for the future.

Pest Free Kaipātiki

Based on Auckland’s North Shore, Pest Free Kaipātiki (PFK) offers team experiences for nature. Its ‘Businesses building biodiversity’ programme sees participants rescuing native trees from weeds and preparing sites for tree planting in the stunning local reserves of Kaipātiki. In wintertime, there is a possibility to plant native trees, too.  

Businesses can also help to restore and protect our local native taonga (treasures) by providing people or sponsorship to PFK events throughout the year, from kauri tree protection workshops to community engagement days.

Kaipātiki Project EcoHub

This North Shore based project operates a thriving native plant nursery and facilitates native plant, stream and estuary regeneration. Teams can get involved in activities in the bush or the plant nursery. Activities include regeneration activity in Eskdale, which is a significant ecological area in Glenfield, preparing areas for planting, clearing rubbish from forests and streams, bushwalks, trapping pests, or planting native trees (May - September).  

The organisation can offer tailored activities for groups, providing valuable opportunities to work together to build a greener world, as well as receiving educational nuggets and having fun!

For the Love of Bees

For the Love of Bees aims to grow radical hope through food. Bring your team to this regenerative organic urban farm, centrally located on Auckland’s Symonds Street. Over a two-hour Team Experience, learn about the world of plants and how they can become climate-change ready infrastructure at this model OMG (organic market garden).  

Learn the principles and practices used to regenerate the land and grow nutrient-dense, abundant food for the local community. Be with the plants and enjoy the farm with your team while learning some hands-on practical skills in the garden.

Everybody Eats

Everybody Eats is a pay-as-you-feel dining concept for everyone, serving delicious, chef-prepared meals that feed bellies, not bins. Their mission: to rescue and repurpose high-quality food to provide meals at their restaurants to those in need, with dignity.   

They can accommodate up to 4 people at each restaurant (Onehunga and Glen Innes) for a daytime shift and up to 8 people at each site for an evening service shift, helping in the kitchen and serving food. For large teams, they suggest some of the group volunteer and the rest come in for dinner to be served by their colleagues.
