This is a unique opportunity to see a part of New Zealand's maritime history in these beautifully restored vessels racing under full sail as they did over 100 years ago. New Zealand's fleet is said to be one of the biggest fleets of originally restored vessels in the world and the spectacle of seeing them line up on the start line is a sight to behold. There will be three days of racing from 21 - 23 February and best views are along Tamaki Drive and East Coast Bays or Maungauika North Head
Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
The event is able to be viewed from along Tamaki Drive so a bus ride or private car, bicycle, scooter would enable viewing from several stop off areas such as Mission Bay, Kohimarama. Or a ferry to Devonport and a walk up to the top of Maungauika North Head would provide excellent viewing.
Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars along Tamaki Drive and The Eatery at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club would be an excellent viewing point.
