Imagine the kind of moreish Netflix or BBC crime show you can’t stop watching late at night, transformed into a live theatre experience through the most incredible collision of drama and movement. At its dark Irish heart is a murder mystery, a land dispute, a missing donkey, and the psychological power struggle between a detective and her prime suspect. Shrouded in fantasy and fear, it probes the question: what right do we have to the land beneath our feet? And what are we willing to do to keep it? Or take it.
Writer-director-choreographer Luke Murphy’s genius is to weave the rich tapestry of this riveting cold case and interrogation around unforgettable visuals and moments — and most climactic of all, a tour de force of fiercely physical, intensely poetic dance by five international performers. Having astonished audiences in New York and Brisbane in 2026, we are thrilled to be hosting Murphy’s award-winning Attic Projects exclusively at the Festival for the Irish company’s first Aotearoa presentation.
