A ground-breaking hybrid of 'Ted Talks', a theatre show and a ‘micro’ conference, and designed to be accessible to all Aotearoa, M9 presents nine unique Māori through Whakaaturanga, Whakaari, Whakawhiti Kōrero - Presentation Performance, Conversation.
The theme of this M9 is: He toi whakairo, he mana tangata - without Māori art, who are we?
When we collectivise and weave together the tapestries of our arts, it creates a deeply rich and diverse cultural landscape that reflects our unique experiences, stories and perspectives. So, it begs the question: without Māori art - who are we?
Featuring: Nikau Hindin, Nigel Borell, Mr G, Tame Iti, Maisey Rika, Veranoa Hetet, Sian Montgomery-Nuetze, The Hori, and Hoturoa Barclay-Kerr

Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
The Aotea Centre is a short walk up Queen Street from Britomart station, and the Civic car park is conveniently located beside the venue if you’re driving.
Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
Check out the sculpture of celebrated Kiwi opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa which sits on Level 3 of the Aotea Centre. It was created by local artist Terry Stringer and unveiled by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa herself when the auditorium was named in her honour in 2019.
