Nestled in the charming community of Hobsonville, the enchanting Fairy Works - Fairy Houses art installation is a true gem that has captured the hearts and imaginations of both young and adults. It all started during the first week of New Zealand's Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020 when fairy houses started popping up in Te Onekiritea Park bringing a touch of magic to the community and giving families something wonderful to focus on during a challenging time.
Since then, this unique installation has grown into 20 fairy houses. As you wander through the park, you will discover a fantastical display of miniature fairy houses crafted from natural materials, meticulously placed opposite 22-32 Catalina Bay Drive. Each fairy dwelling is teeming with intricate details, from tiny windows and doors to delicate furnishings and miniature gardens, providing a glimpse into the world of the elusive fairy folk.
For young folk, the fairy houses are a source of wonder, inspiring their imaginations to run wild as they imagine what the tiny inhabitants might look like and what they could be doing. Older folk will be taken back to a time when everything was simpler, and anything was possible, as they rediscover their inner child.
